TLDR Ginger and cinnamon can help manage PCOS and related disorders by reducing oxidative stress and inflammation.
This comprehensive review evaluates the antioxidative effects of ginger and cinnamon in managing polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and other oxidative stress-related disorders. PCOS is characterized by symptoms such as irregular menstrual cycles and metabolic issues, often linked to oxidative stress and inflammation. The review includes 65 studies and highlights that cinnamon and ginger can positively influence hormonal status, lipid profiles, obesity, and insulin resistance in PCOS patients by reducing oxidative stress and inflammation. The findings suggest that these herbs, traditionally used in medicine, offer beneficial supplementation for PCOS and potentially other related disorders.
