TLDR Tofacitinib helped regrow hair in a woman with alopecia areata.
The document presented a case study of a 46-year-old woman with active inflammatory alopecia areata universalis who experienced full regrowth of scalp hair after being treated with 2 × 5 mg per day of tofacitinib for 18 months. Previous treatments with topical and systemic glucocorticoids, cream PUVA therapy, and dithranol were unsuccessful. Hair growth began after 4-6 months of tofacitinib treatment, which was well tolerated. This case demonstrated that the off-label use of tofacitinib could be a potential therapeutic option for alopecia areata.
