TLDR Akkermansia muciniphila may help prevent testosterone-related hair loss.
The study examined the impact of Akkermansia muciniphila (Akk) on testosterone-induced hair growth inhibition in C57BL/6 male mice over 5 weeks. Mice treated with live and pasteurized Akk showed significant hair growth and increased hair follicle density, similar to the finasteride-treated group. Akk enhanced the expression of hair growth-related factors like β-catenin and cyclin D1. The study suggests that Akk could potentially counteract hormonal hair loss by regulating key signaling pathways, although further clinical studies are necessary to confirm its effectiveness.
