    In 2018, researchers developed an optimized culture strategy for mouse dermal papilla (DP) cells, which are crucial for hair growth and regeneration. They used a stepwise dissection, collagen I coated plate, and α-MEM based culture medium. The team also immortalized the primary DP cells using SV40 large T antigen, a protein that extends cell lifespan. They established several cell strains, including iDP6, which was similar to primary DP cells. The study also found that the immortalization process was reversible.
