TLDR A 940nm laser effectively reduces inflammation in rat joints.
This study evaluated the anti-inflammatory effects of a 940nm diode laser on carrageenan-induced arthritis in the temporomandibular joint of Wistar albino rats. It concluded that a low-level laser therapy (LLLT) with an energy density of 74J/cm² was very effective in reducing edema and restoring function, demonstrating a good anti-inflammatory effect. In contrast, an energy density of 171J/cm² appeared to be near the borderline between non-thermal and thermal laser irradiation concerning Wistar rat skin.
