    Oral Minoxidil, also known as Low-Dose Oral Minoxidil, is a medication originally developed to treat high blood pressure but has been found effective in promoting hair growth. Minoxidil can cause side effects, and because it was designed as a blood-pressure drug, some of them involve the heart and circulation. Published studies of low-dose oral minoxidil describe mostly mild problems, but fluid around the heart, pericarditis and other serious events have been reported, and the long-term picture is still being studied. Do not start, stop or change minoxidil without a doctor, and if you develop chest pain, a racing heartbeat, shortness of breath, fainting, swelling or rapid weight gain while using it, stop and seek medical care.
