    GlossaryGene Transcription

process where DNA is converted into RNA

Gene transcription, also known simply as transcription, is the process by which a cell converts a segment of DNA into RNA. This is a crucial step in gene expression, where the information encoded in a gene is used to produce a functional product, typically a protein. During transcription, an enzyme called RNA polymerase reads the DNA sequence of a gene and synthesizes a complementary RNA strand, which can then be translated into a protein or serve other functions within the cell.

in Treatment  55 upvotes 3 years ago
A user is trying to reverse male pattern baldness (MPB) naturally by taking high doses of Vitamin D, improving diet, exercising, reducing stress, and other lifestyle changes, but plans to use finasteride if no results are seen in 60 days. Other users are skeptical, advising medical treatments like finasteride and warning against potential vitamin D overdose and the ineffectiveness of natural remedies for genetic hair loss.

community Why do we get bald from evolutionary perspective

Baldness is not an evolutionary disadvantage because it occurs after reproductive age. Treatments like Minoxidil and Finasteride are used for androgenetic alopecia but don't address the root cause.

The conversation is about the debate over the existence of Post-Finasteride Syndrome (PFS) and its symptoms, with some users skeptical about PFS and others discussing side effects like erectile dysfunction and gynecomastia from hair loss treatments like finasteride. Specific treatments mentioned include finasteride, viagra, and a joke about using a popsicle stick for erectile support.
