cell grows and prepares for DNA replication

The G1 phase, also known as the Gap 1 phase or First gap phase, is the first stage of the cell cycle that occurs right after a cell has divided. During this phase, the cell grows in size, produces RNA, and synthesizes proteins necessary for DNA replication. This phase is crucial for ensuring that the cell is ready for the next phase, the S phase, where DNA synthesis occurs.
