Estrogen, also spelled oestrogen, is a group of hormones primarily responsible for the development and regulation of the female reproductive system and secondary sexual characteristics. It plays a crucial role in the menstrual cycle, pregnancy, and bone health, and is also present in smaller amounts in males, where it helps regulate certain functions of the reproductive system and maintain bone density.
