Dissecting Cellulitis of the Scalp, also known as Perifolliculitis Capitis Abscedens et Suffodiens, is a rare, chronic inflammatory condition that affects the scalp. It is characterized by painful, swollen nodules and abscesses that can lead to scarring and permanent hair loss. The exact cause is unknown, but it is thought to involve follicular occlusion and secondary bacterial infection. Treatment often includes antibiotics, corticosteroids, and sometimes surgical intervention.
