    Desmosomal components are the proteins and structures that make up desmosomes, which are specialized cell junctions that help hold cells together, particularly in tissues that experience a lot of stress, like the skin and heart. These components include desmogleins and desmocollins (types of cadherins), as well as plakoglobin and desmoplakin, which link the cell membrane to the internal cytoskeleton, providing mechanical strength and stability.
