specialized white blood cells that produce antibodies

B cells, also known as B lymphocytes, are a type of white blood cell that plays a crucial role in the immune system. They are responsible for producing antibodies, which are proteins that specifically target and neutralize pathogens like bacteria and viruses. B cells also have a role in memory, allowing the immune system to respond more rapidly and effectively if the same pathogen is encountered again.
