TLDR Accurate diagnosis of Winer's dilated pore in the ear is crucial to avoid unnecessary aggressive treatment.
A 51-year-old female presented with a discharging right ear that did not respond to treatment. Examination revealed a rare case of Winer's dilated pore, a benign hair follicle tumor, in the ear canal. This condition can mimic more serious lesions like squamous or basal cell carcinoma due to its keratotic plug and potential bone erosion. The study highlighted the importance of accurate diagnosis to avoid unnecessary aggressive treatment. This was the first reported case of Winer's dilated pore in the ear canal in English literature.
