TLDR A dog had a rare skin cyst, known as a dilated pore of Winer, surgically removed from its neck.
A 9-year-old Goldendoodle dog was brought to the Animal Medical Center of Seattle with a cystic mass on its neck that had been present for 2 years, causing pain upon periodic rupture and discharge. The mass was surgically removed, and histopathological examination revealed a dilated pore of Winer, which is a keratin-filled follicular cyst originating from a hair follicle. This condition is common in humans, less common in cats, and has been rarely reported in other animals. According to the authors, this is the first reported case of a dilated pore of Winer in a dog.
