TLDR A rare family case of multiple benign hair follicle tumors was identified, highlighting the need to distinguish them from similar conditions.
This case series describes a rare familial occurrence of multiple trichofolliculomas, a benign tumor of hair follicle differentiation, in a 57-year-old male and his two children, aged 13 and 10. Unlike the typical solitary presentation, this family exhibited multiple asymptomatic papules and nodules on the face. Histopathological analysis showed keratin-filled cystic cavities and secondary hair follicle structures. The study emphasizes the rarity of such familial cases and the importance of distinguishing these lesions from conditions like trichoepithelioma and molluscum contagiosum.
