TLDR A rare skin bump with tiny hairs was successfully removed from a man's face.
Trichofolliculoma is a rare skin lesion that typically appears as a small, hard nodule with a central opening from which multiple thin white hairs protrude, often found on the head and neck area, especially around the nose. The case discussed involves a 64-year-old male patient, highlighting the rarity of this condition. A biopsy of the lesion shows a large central follicle filled with keratin and vellus hairs, surrounded by smaller follicles in different developmental stages, all encased in a fibrous sheath. The presence of a significant number of Merkel cells is noted within the tumor. Despite its rarity, trichofolliculoma can be effectively treated with simple surgical excision.
