Keratotic plugs, also known as keratin plugs or follicular plugs, are small, hardened accumulations of keratin and dead skin cells that block hair follicles. These plugs can lead to conditions like keratosis pilaris, where the skin becomes rough and bumpy, often resembling goosebumps. They are commonly found on the upper arms, thighs, and buttocks, and can sometimes cause inflammation or irritation.
