Clinico-Epidemiology of Keratosis Pilaris with Histopathologic and Dermoscopic Evaluation: A Cross-Sectional Study in a Rural Tertiary Hospital

    TLDR Keratosis pilaris significantly affects quality of life and shows specific skin changes.
    The study on keratosis pilaris (KP) involved 32 patients, predominantly male (62.5%), and found that 80% experienced significant quality of life impairment, as indicated by DLQI scores between 11 and 19. Histopathological analysis showed hyperkeratosis in 81% of cases and keratin deposits in all cases. Dermoscopic evaluation revealed follicular plugs and hair changes in all patients, with 65.6% showing perifollicular scales and 56.3% exhibiting erythema. The study concluded that there are notable correlations between histopathological and dermoscopic findings in KP, which are associated with significant quality of life impairment.
