TLDR Wheat sprout extract boosts hair cell growth by activating specific proteins.
The study investigated the effects of Wheat Sprout MeOH extract (WSM) on cell proliferation in human hair dermal papilla cells (HHDPCs). It was found that WSM increased cell proliferation more than minoxidil. This increase was associated with the phosphorylation of ERK and Akt proteins. The use of specific inhibitors (PD98059 for ERK and LY294002 for Akt) reduced the WSM-induced cell proliferation, indicating that WSM stimulated cell proliferation through the activation of ERK and Akt pathways.
