A Study to Evaluate the Efficacy of Baicapil Formulations in the Treatment of Telogen Effluvium

    Image of study
TLDR Baicapil was effective in reducing hair loss and increasing hair growth in women with telogen effluvium.
In the 2018 study involving 30 female subjects with telogen effluvium, Baicapil formulations were found to be effective in reducing hair loss and promoting hair growth. Participants applied a Baicapil-containing serum twice daily for 2 months, with assessments at baseline, day 30, and day 60. Subjective hair loss scores significantly decreased from a median of 7 to 4, and the median number of thin hairs at two scalp points also significantly reduced, both with p-values of less than 0.001. While 63.3% of subjects had hair loss for over 6 months, and most were aged 21 to 25 years, no adverse events were reported. The study's limitations included its small sample size, short duration, and the exclusive inclusion of female subjects. The study was not financially supported by Brinton pharmaceutical Ltd., the provider of the Baicapil formulations.
