    Glossary Scalp

skin covering the top of the head, rich in hair follicles

The scalp is the skin and subcutaneous tissue that covers the top of the human head. It consists of five layers: the skin, connective tissue, aponeurosis, loose areolar tissue, and the pericranium. The scalp is rich in blood vessels and hair follicles, making it crucial for hair growth and overall head protection.
