TLDR Vitamin D may help improve hormone levels in women with PCOS.
The systematic review and meta-analysis investigated the effect of vitamin D on the hormonal profile of women with polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) by analyzing 19 studies with 900 participants. The study found that vitamin D supplementation significantly improved levels of several hormones, including DHEAS, SHBG, testosterone, LH, and FAI, but not FSH and AMH. It concluded that 8-week interventions were more effective than 12-week ones, although results varied based on factors like dose and baseline vitamin D levels. Despite some inconsistencies and limitations, the findings suggest vitamin D could help manage hormonal imbalances in women with PCOS, warranting further research.
