TLDR Obese women with PCOS have lower vitamin D levels.
The study assessed serum 1, 25-dihydroxy vitamin D levels in obese Egyptian women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and included 80 patients with PCOS and 80 women without PCOS. It found that serum 25-OH vitamin D levels were significantly lower in the PCOS group compared to the control group, with a notable deficiency in obese PCOS women compared to non-obese PCOS women. The results indicated an association between vitamin D deficiency and obesity in patients with PCOS, highlighting the potential importance of monitoring vitamin D levels in this population.
