TLDR Female pattern hair loss is more common in rural areas among secondary school girls.
The study aimed to identify the prevalence of female pattern hair loss (FPHL) among 3,405 secondary school girls and associated factors. It found that 28.6% of the girls had FPHL, with a higher prevalence in rural areas (56.2%) compared to urban areas (43.8%). Significant predictors for FPHL included irregular menses, history of thyroid disease, and hirsutism. No significant differences were observed regarding paternal and maternal education, family income, or parental degree of education among those with and without FPHL.
