TLDR People with more knowledge about their hair loss condition and those who see it as a serious issue are more likely to seek treatment.
In a study of 503 patients with Androgenetic Alopecia, nearly half (49.1%) did not view their hair loss as an illness, and a similar proportion (52.1%) were not inclined to seek treatment. However, those who recognized their hair loss, were informed about AGA, or had more severe hair loss were significantly more likely to consider treatment, with increased likelihoods of 1.745, 1.700, and 2.078 times, respectively. Gender and previous treatment history did not significantly affect the willingness to seek treatment. The study emphasized the role of patient education and awareness in increasing the propensity for seeking treatment for AGA.

Topical melatonin may help reduce hair loss and increase hair thickness in people with androgenetic alopecia (AGA), with some studies showing positive results. It can be mixed with minoxidil for application, and its effectiveness might be enhanced when used with micro-needling, but results may vary among individuals.
