TLDR Sublingual minoxidil effectively treats hair loss with mild side effects.
A retrospective case-series study of 64 patients with male and female pattern hair loss (MPHL and FPHL) was conducted to evaluate the efficacy and safety of low-dose sublingual minoxidil (0.45mg daily). The study found that sublingual minoxidil was effective and had an acceptable safety profile in treating MPHL and FPHL. The most common adverse effect was mild hypertrichosis, and there were no serious adverse effects recorded. Larger placebo-controlled clinical trials are required to support this conclusion.
