TLDR GPIGS peptide increases thick hair growth in balding Japanese men.
A study conducted on Japanese men with androgenetic alopecia (AGA) investigated the effectiveness of a topical penta-peptide Gly-Pro-Ile-Gly-Ser (GPIGS) in promoting hair growth. The peptide was found to stimulate the proliferation of hair keratinocytes and hair shaft elongation in vitro. In a clinical trial, the penta-peptide was found to increase the proportion of thick hair in Japanese men with AGA, and improved the appearance of baldness. No adverse effects were noted during the study, and the authors suggest that the penta-peptide may be a potential treatment for AGA.
