TLDR Tocotrienol supplements significantly increased hair growth in people with hair loss.
The study investigated the effects of tocotrienol supplementation on hair growth in individuals experiencing hair loss. It involved 21 volunteers who received 100 mg of mixed tocotrienols daily and 17 volunteers who received a placebo. Over 8 months, the tocotrienol group showed a significant 34.5% increase in hair count, while the placebo group experienced a 0.1% decrease. However, the weight of hair clippings did not significantly change in either group. The results suggested that tocotrienol's antioxidant properties might reduce oxidative stress and lipid peroxidation in the scalp, contributing to increased hair growth in those with alopecia.
