Thiadiazole Chitosan Conjugates as a Novel Cosmetic Ingredient for Rinse-Off Hair Conditioners: Design, Formulation, Characterization and In Silico-Molecular Docking Studies

    This study investigates the use of thiadiazole chitosan conjugates, specifically CH-ETD and CH-BTD, as novel ingredients in rinse-off hair conditioners. Nine formulations were tested on 10 healthy adult volunteers over 4 weeks, showing improvements in hair manageability, detangling, and moisture retention without irritation. The conditioners, free from sulfates, alcohols, mineral oils, and silicones, demonstrated stability and enhanced rheological properties, with a potential shelf life of 3 years. Molecular docking studies indicated effective binding to keratin, suggesting benefits for hair protection and growth. The study concludes that these formulations are effective, sustainable, and environmentally friendly, with plans for further toxicological studies and clinical trials.
