TLDR High temperatures, acidic conditions, and too much coconut oil damage hair, while a pH of 5 to 7 keeps it healthy.
The study investigated the effects of extreme temperature, pH, and moisture on human hair, using samples from a female student. Hair exposed to high temperature (100°C), acidic conditions (pH 3), and excessive virgin coconut oil showed damage, while a pH range of 5 to 7 was ideal for maintaining hair health. Healthy hair was characterized by smoothness, consistent color, and shine. Observations were made twice daily over five days, and results suggested that these findings could help cosmetic companies develop better hair care products.
