TLDR All evaluated shampoos meet Saudi standards.
The study evaluated six shampoo brands in the Saudi market, focusing on parameters like pH levels, viscosity, foaming ability, dirt dispersion, and wetting ability. All shampoos met national standards, showing good chemical soundness and physical stability under various storage conditions. The pH levels were within the acceptable range, and the shampoos exhibited desirable pseudo-plastic behavior for ease of application. While all brands demonstrated good foaming ability and cleansing action, the solid content was below the ideal range, suggesting they might wash out too easily. No single brand outperformed the others across all tests, and further research was recommended to explore microbiological aspects and potential skin and eye irritation.
