TLDR Indian dermatologists prefer an alcohol-free minoxidil, procapil, and finasteride formulation for treating hair loss.
A survey of 245 Indian dermatologists showed a preference for treating androgenetic alopecia (AGA) with a novel alcohol-free formulation containing minoxidil, procapil, and finasteride. The study highlighted that 51.4% of dermatologists estimated AGA prevalence at 30%-40%, with 49.3% favoring a combination of topical minoxidil and finasteride with oral supplements for men, and 50.6% recommending a 5% minoxidil solution for women. A significant 79.4% believed alcohol-free minoxidil is superior to alcohol-based versions, and 51% found the alcohol-free combination with procapil and finasteride more effective and safer. The formulation was rated 'good' or 'excellent' by 55% and 45% of dermatologists, respectively, and was better tolerated by 62%, with 64% rating patient adherence as 'good'.

Most scalp serums are ineffective for hair loss, with Nécessaire’s “The Scalp Serum” being the only one showing noticeable results, though it's not worth the cost. For androgenetic alopecia, clinical treatments like minoxidil and finasteride are necessary, while caffeine and capixyl may offer some benefits.
