TLDR Hemodialysis successfully treated a cat with minoxidil poisoning.
This case report describes the successful use of hemodialysis to treat a 5-year-old American Shorthair cat suffering from minoxidil toxicosis. The cat developed severe symptoms, including respiratory distress, after accidental exposure to topical minoxidil. Initial treatments were ineffective, but after two sessions of intermittent hemodialysis, the cat's condition improved significantly, leading to a full recovery and discharge on the 11th day of hospitalization. This is the first documented case of using hemodialysis for minoxidil toxicosis in a cat, suggesting its potential as a therapeutic option in similar cases.
