TLDR The analysis shows growing research on stem cells for wound healing, with the US and China leading, and suggests focusing on how stem cells help in wound healing.
This bibliometric analysis reviewed 19,728 English studies from 1999 to 2023 to assess research trends and hotspots in the use of stem cells for wound healing. The study found a consistent increase in annual publications, with the United States and China leading in the number of publications. Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Sun Yat-sen University, and the University of Pittsburgh were the top institutions, while the International Journal of Molecular Sciences and Biomaterials were the most influential journals. The author Fu X was noted for publication production, and Pittenger MF for co-citations. The analysis, using tools like VOSviewer and CiteSpace, highlighted that future research should focus on the mechanisms by which stem cells aid in wound healing. This study provides insights and serves as a reference for further development in the field, aiming to stimulate researcher interest.
