TLDR Collagen-enhanced mesenchymal stem cells significantly improve skin wound healing.
The study "Mesenchymal Stem Cells Pretreated with Collagen Promote Skin Wound-Healing" demonstrated that mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) pretreated with collagen significantly accelerated skin wound healing in mice and canines, including diabetic canines. The MSCs promoted epidermal layer repair, collagen deposition, hair follicle angiogenesis, and an inflammatory response. The study also found that collagen enhances the secretion of chemokines and growth factors by MSCs, which positively influences skin healing. Additionally, collagen was found to promote the adhesion and proliferation of MSCs, and upregulate the gene pathway of adipose-derived stem cells (ADSC) in skin injury repair, particularly the coagulation cascade, aiding wound healing. The results suggest potential for MSCs cultured with collagen in the treatment of skin injuries.
