Skinny Fat Cells Stimulate Wound Healing

TLDR Skinny fat cells help wounds heal faster by releasing fatty acids.
The study revealed that dermal adipocytes played a crucial role in skin wound repair by releasing fatty acids that promoted macrophage recruitment and accelerated revascularization. Using a transgenic mouse model, the authors demonstrated that the loss of dermal adipocytes significantly delayed wound healing and impaired macrophage recruitment. The study found that dermal adipocytes near the injury site upregulated triglyceride lipolysis, releasing fatty acids that activated proinflammatory macrophages, which in turn sped up revascularization. Additionally, mature dermal adipocytes dedifferentiated into myofibroblasts, contributing to tissue repair. These findings highlighted the plasticity of adipocytes and their significant role in skin maintenance and repair, suggesting potential therapeutic targets for enhancing wound healing.

The conversation discusses the potential of long-chain unsaturated fatty acids, like oleic and linoleic acid, as an additional treatment for hair loss, which may inhibit the enzyme responsible for converting testosterone to DHT and promote hair growth. Users humorously suggest using oils topically and discuss other hair loss treatments, but the main focus is on the science behind fatty acids and their role in hair health.
