TLDR Lead and selenium levels don't cause premature graying.
The study evaluated serum levels of lead and selenium in 60 patients with premature hair graying (PHG) compared to a control group. The mean age of participants was 28.1 years. There were no significant differences in age, sex, occupation, or skin phenotype between the groups, but a family history of PHG was significantly higher in the PHG group. The number of white hairs and the age of onset of hair graying were also significantly different. However, serum levels of lead and selenium did not show significant differences between the groups, although lead levels were slightly higher in the PHG group. The study concluded that there was no significant difference in lead and selenium serum levels in patients with and without PHG.
