TLDR Kids with early graying hair often have low levels of calcium, ferritin, and vitamin D3.
In the 2013 study, researchers found that premature graying of hair in 35 higher secondary and pre-university school children was associated with lower levels of serum calcium, serum ferritin, and vitamin D3. Specifically, 45.7% of the subjects with premature graying were deficient in vitamin D3, and 54.3% had insufficient levels, in contrast to 20% and 45.7% respectively in the control group. No significant differences were observed in hemoglobin, total iron binding capacity, serum iron, and vitamin B12 levels. The study suggests a genetic predisposition to premature graying and highlights the need for further research on the role of vitamin D3. However, the exact number of participants was not provided, which is crucial for validating the study's strength.
