TLDR Cutaneous lupus can cause permanent hair loss by damaging hair follicles.
Cicatricial alopecia was identified as a multifactorial dermatosis significantly influenced by collagen vascular diseases like cutaneous lupus, leading to permanent hair loss due to the destruction of hair follicles by inflammation. The exact mechanisms were not fully understood, and treatments available at the time did not provide significant benefits. The article presented a case study of a 60-year-old female patient with cicatricial alopecia secondary to cutaneous lupus and included a brief literature review.
