TLDR Scalp cryotherapy significantly reduces hair loss during and shortly after chemotherapy.
The study investigated factors influencing the use of scalp cryotherapy to promote hair regrowth in 50 breast cancer patients receiving chemotherapy. It found significant differences in hair regrowth related to age, marital status, disease stage, duration, and number of chemotherapies (P<0.001), as well as educational level, living status, treatment cost, occupation, and type of chemotherapy drugs (P<0.05). The study concluded that scalp cryotherapy significantly protects against hair loss during and for 2 months after chemotherapy. It recommends further research on its effectiveness with high-dose combination chemotherapy and more cycles.
