TLDR Propylene glycol concentration improves rice water gel shampoo's thickness and foam, extending its shelf life.
This study investigated the impact of different concentrations of propylene glycol (8%, 10%, and 12%) on the physical properties and stability of rice water shampoo gel. The results showed that variations in propylene glycol concentration significantly affected the physical properties such as viscosity and foam height, but not the organoleptic properties or pH stability. The shampoo gels maintained a clear pale yellow color, lemon odor, and semi-solid form across all formulations. Stability tests over four weeks indicated significant changes in viscosity and foam height, highlighting the role of propylene glycol concentration in enhancing the physical characteristics and shelf life of rice water gel shampoo.
