The study evaluated the protective effects of three rice derivatives—rice germ oil PRO-15, rice germ oil GX-N, and riceterol esters—on hair when included in a conditioner at a 1% concentration. Using techniques like FT-IR spectroscopy, SEM analysis, and stress-strain tests, the research demonstrated that these rice derivatives can mitigate hair damage caused by UV radiation. Hair treated with these conditioners exhibited improved tensile properties and structural integrity compared to untreated hair. Rice germ oil GX-N was particularly effective, providing 27% UV protection and maintaining hair's mechanical properties post-irradiation. The study concludes that rice derivatives are effective in protecting and improving hair health.
