TLDR Quercetin may help with PCOS symptoms, but more research is needed.
The systematic review from 2020 analyzed the impact of quercetin on polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), including 8 articles with 5 animal studies and 3 clinical trials. Quercetin showed positive effects on ovarian function, reducing testosterone, luteinizing hormone (LH), and insulin resistance, and improving dyslipidemia, although it did not significantly affect weight loss. The clinical trials involved 84 women with PCOS who received 1 g of quercetin or a placebo for 12 weeks. The review concluded that quercetin could be a potential agent to mitigate PCOS complications due to its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, but emphasized the need for more high-quality clinical trials to confirm these findings.
