TLDR Platelet-rich plasma is an effective and safe treatment for male pattern hair loss.
The study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) as monotherapy for male androgenetic alopecia (MAA). A total of 20 male patients with MAA were treated with PRP injections into the scalp over a period of 3 months, with 6 sessions at 15-day intervals. Follow-up was conducted after 3 months, and the response to treatment was assessed using clinical photographs. At the end of the 6-month period, 18 out of 20 patients showed satisfactory hair growth, while 2 experienced a relapse. No side effects were reported, and all patients tolerated the procedure well. The study concluded that PRP is an affordable, effective, and promising therapy for androgenetic alopecia with no major adverse effects.

Scalp biopsies are crucial for diagnosing hair loss conditions like Diffuse Unpatterned Alopecia (DUPA) and retrograde hair loss, as treatments like finasteride and dutasteride may not be effective if other conditions are present. Combining PPAR-GAMMA agonists with retinoids could improve treatments for conditions like Lichen Planopilaris.

Key treatments for hair preservation include minoxidil, finasteride/dutasteride, and microneedling, with additional options like specific shampoos, oils, biotin, zinc, tretinoin, clascoterone, and low-level laser therapy. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle, reducing stress, and addressing nutrient deficiencies can also support hair health.

The post and conversation are about a user who made their own Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) for hair loss treatment at home, using their own blood and a centrifuge. The responses vary, with some users supporting the DIY approach to save money, others expressing concern about the safety and effectiveness of the method, and a few joking about the lengths people will go to combat hair loss.
