TLDR The treatment promotes hair growth, improves hair density, and reduces skin irritation.
The study developed a water-in-oil microemulsion (PNS ME) using Panax notoginseng saponins (PNS) and D-panthenol to treat alopecia. PNS ME effectively penetrates the skin, targets hair follicles, and promotes hair growth by upregulating β-catenin, VEGF, and Ki67. D-panthenol reduces skin irritation and enhances the microemulsion's efficacy. The treatment significantly improved hair density, pigmentation, and follicle health in mice models, outperforming minoxidil tincture and demonstrating long-term safety and effectiveness.
