In 2018, a systematic review by Ibrahim Najem and Hongxiang Chen analyzed 11 studies involving 444 males and 246 females to evaluate the effectiveness of low-level laser therapy (LLLT) in treating androgenic alopecia. The studies, which used wavelengths from 625 nm to 655 nm and power settings of 5 MW or less, reported a significant improvement in hair density in both males and females after LLLT treatment. However, two studies did not record a significant increase in hair count. The review concluded that LLLT could be an effective treatment for androgenic alopecia, but recommended further research to identify ideal candidates for this treatment.
