TLDR Combining PRP with minoxidil significantly improves hair growth and reduces hair loss in men with androgenic alopecia.
The study evaluated the effectiveness of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) combined with 5% minoxidil in treating androgenic alopecia (AGA) in 66 men aged 18-53. Patients were divided into three groups: PRP with minoxidil, PRP alone, and minoxidil alone. The combination therapy significantly improved hair density by 32% and reduced hair loss by 39%, outperforming both monotherapies. PRP alone also increased hair density and thickness but to a lesser extent. The combination therapy was well-tolerated with minimal side effects, suggesting it could be a highly effective and safe treatment for AGA.
