Unveiling the Pharmacognostical, Macroscopical, Microscopical Features and Potent Antioxidant Activity of Molluva Spicata Stem Extract

The study on Moullava spicata stem, a plant from the Western Ghats, highlights its pharmacognostic and antioxidant properties. Macroscopical and microscopical analyses identified distinct structural features, while physicochemical tests established quality control parameters. Phytochemical screening revealed the presence of various compounds, including alkaloids and flavonoids. Antioxidant assays demonstrated significant activity, with inhibition values between 25.45% and 83.54%, though lower than standard references. These results indicate that the stem is a rich source of natural antioxidants, supporting its traditional medicinal use and potential for further pharmacological research.
