TLDR PDRN is effective and safe for healing wounds and skin issues.
Polydeoxyribonucleotide (PDRN), derived from salmon sperm DNA, is highlighted as a potent regenerative and anti-inflammatory agent in dermatology and wound healing. It works through adenosine A2A receptor activation and nucleotide provision, enhancing angiogenesis, modulating cytokine profiles, and accelerating tissue repair. Clinical evidence supports its efficacy in improving healing rates for chronic diabetic foot ulcers, pressure ulcers, venous leg ulcers, and surgical donor sites, as well as corneal wounds. PDRN also shows benefits in lichen sclerosis, osteoarthritis, and aesthetic dermatology, with an excellent safety profile and minimal adverse events. The review underscores PDRN's versatility and safety, supported by emerging delivery platforms and combination therapies.
