TLDR The PCOSQ-50 is a valid and reliable questionnaire for measuring quality of life in Iranian women with PCOS.
The study developed the PCOSQ-50, a health-related quality of life questionnaire specifically for Iranian women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). The process began with interviews with 23 women with PCOS, which led to a preliminary 147-item questionnaire. This was refined to 88 items through validity assessments and then to 50 items via exploratory factor analysis. The final questionnaire covers six domains and demonstrated good psychometric properties, with a content validity index (CVI) of 0.92, content validity ratio (CVR) of 0.91, Cronbach's alpha of 0.88 for the entire questionnaire, and intra-class correlation coefficients for the subscales ranging from 0.57 to 0.88. The PCOSQ-50 is considered a valid and reliable tool for assessing quality of life in women with PCOS.
